Solar Near Us (“Solar Near Us,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates solarnearus.com, an independent solar education and matching service for homeowners in the United States. We are not a solar installer, lender, or utility.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit our website, submit a request, or communicate with us. It also serves as our notice at collection under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended (“CCPA”), and similar state privacy laws.

• Identifiers and contact details: first and last name, email address, phone number, and ZIP code.
• Property and project details: whether you own, rent, or are buying the home, and your approximate monthly electric bill.
• Communications: messages, support requests, and privacy requests you send to us.
• Consent records: the consent language you agreed to, the date and time, and the page where you submitted it.

Information collected automatically

• Device and usage data: IP address, browser, operating system, device type and model, screen and window size, time zone, language setting, pages viewed, referring URL, and the date and time of your visit.
• Approximate location: general location derived from your IP address or the ZIP code you enter. We do not collect precise geolocation.
• Form security signals: information used to detect automated or fraudulent submissions, such as how long a form took to complete.

We do not ask for Social Security numbers, bank-account details, payment-card numbers, or credit reports through our request form. Please do not send them to us.

• Directly from you when you complete a form, contact us, or respond to our messages.
• Automatically from your browser or device when you use the website.
• From service providers that help us operate, secure, and analyze the website.
• From solar providers we work with, for example to confirm whether a request was received or completed.

• Operate, maintain, measure, and improve the website and our content.

5. How we disclose information

We disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients:

• Solar providers and marketing partners. When you ask to be matched, we may share your contact, property, and project details with one or more solar installers, dealers, or partners who may serve your area. These companies may pay us for the referral and will use your information under their own privacy policies. We share your information with a provider only as described in the consent language shown when you submit your request.
• Service providers. Hosting, security, customer relationship management, communications, and analytics vendors that process information on our behalf under contracts that limit their use of it.
• Legal and safety disclosures. Government authorities, courts, or other parties when required by law or needed to protect rights, safety, and the security of the service.
• Business transfers. A buyer, successor, or financing party in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

6. Calls, texts, and emails

If you give consent, we may contact you by phone, text message, or email about your request. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. You can revoke consent at any time by replying STOP to a text message, asking the caller to add you to our internal do-not-call list, using the unsubscribe link in an email, or emailing privacy@solarnearus.com.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We currently use only the technologies needed to deliver and secure the website. If we add analytics or advertising tools, we will describe them in our Cookie Policy and update this Privacy Policy before they are used. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for the browser that sends them.

8. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

• Request and contact details: up to 24 months after your last interaction, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
• Consent and opt-out records: at least 5 years, so we can show that we honored your choices and meet legal obligations.
• Security and technical logs: generally up to 12 months.

How to make a request

Email privacy@solarnearus.com with the subject line “Privacy Request,” the right you want to exercise, and the name, email address, and phone number you used with us. To opt out of sales, you can also use our opt-out page.

We will verify your request by matching the information you provide with our records and may ask for more details. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with your signed permission. We respond within the time required by law, generally 45 days. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with the subject line “Privacy Appeal,” and we will respond within the time required by your state’s law.

11. Children’s privacy

Our service is intended for adults 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact privacy@solarnearus.com and we will delete it.

12. Third-party websites and providers

Our website may link to other websites, and solar providers you are matched with operate independently. Their practices are governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. If we make material changes, we will post a notice on the website before the changes take effect.
